Easy Choice Exteriors is not in the painting business. We are in the architectural coating business. Our product is a ceramic based, water-borne, insulating coating that blocks heat load, prevents moisture penetration, and air infiltration.
Our ceramic coating is a high-build cross-linked acrylic base filled with ceramic microspheres that prevent heat from crossing through, much like ceramic tiles protect the Space Shuttle from the high heat loads during re-entry into the atmosphere. The ceramic technology used in our coatings was originally developed by 3M.
The ceramic microspheres in the Easy Choice coating are shaped like a hollow ball, so small they no thicker than a human hair. These microspheres are suspended in an acrylic solution for smooth application. This insulating ceramic technology blocks the transfer of heat when used to paint exterior walls, effectively providing year-round comfort and leading to lower energy costs.
What Makes It Better Than Paint?
When you use traditional paint on your house, two coats dry to a thickness of approximately 3 mils — about the thickness of a piece of paper. Most of what goes onto the surface of your house evaporates, leaving a thin layer of solid material to protect the underlying surface. That’s why house paint cracks, peels and fades.
Easy Choice’s ceramic coating dries to a thickness of 10 mils, more than three times thicker than paint. That’s because the solid content of our coating is more than three times that of paint, meaning more solids adhere to and bond with the underlying surface, providing superior protection.
